arms were raised holding stones, waiting for an answer
one prematurely flew my way and struck me in the temple
when i came to i looked around and found to my surprise
each and every woman had a tear within their eye
arms were raised into fists, staring to the sky
and then i left my body and found that i had learned to fly
and when i flew
the first person i thought of was you
somehow i knew
you’d need an answer
that you’d seek the truth
i came down onto your sill and watched you in your kitchen
the phone began to ring and i stared while you listened
the phone fell to the floor, startling your husband
rushing to your side as your palms began to glisten
he asked you what was wrong
and you said an old friend had died
politely you excused yourself to be alone outside
i stayed beside you for the night but then i had to lie
i whispered in your ear and said our love was bound to die
